The ELLIS METHOD
A series of natural movements that allow a player, at any level, to feel a dramatic increase in POWER.
The Ellis Method has allowed skaters from beginner to Olympic athletes to dramatically improve their POWER & speed. .
These techniques are being raved about by all those whom Sue has shared them with, not for their complexity but rather their simplicity.
When learning new skills it is important to break the skills down into segments, which can be practiced to produce the most effective movement for that particular skill. This book contains drills aimed at improving the pressure, the power, the direction, the flow, etc. for each part of the skating stride. By breaking them down into parts, making each part more effective, and then putting it all back together, we are better able to perform all the motions that make up a powerful stride and thus increase speed.
The Use of Progressions
All technical skill learning must follow a logical progression, which starts, from simple basic movement, to more advanced movements, culminating in the proper execution of the whole movement.
"I do not believe that skating is complicated or a series of learned movements!
I believe that the most powerful skating is a series of natural movements, and once felt they can be repeatedly improved upon!"
Sue Ellis
This book allows players to maximize their skill development by providing Progressions for both Off Ice and On Ice.
The Ellis Method for the Straight Away Stride contains:
By practicing the Off Ice Progressions on a regular basis a player will improve their power in less time.
- Off Ice Progressions can be included in individual or team training sessions.
- Off Ice Progressions can be included in pre-practice and pre-game off ice warm-ups.
- The progressions are so simple they can be even practiced while talking on the phone, watching TV or even brushing your teeth.
- Practicing the Ellis Method Off Ice Progressions on a regular basis will allow any player no matter their age or skill level to maximize their results on the Ice.
By practicing the On Ice Progressions on a regular basis a player will continue to develop a more powerful stride.
- On Ice Progressions can become a dedicated part of on ice practices.
- On Ice Progressions can be included in practice warm-ups.
- On Ice Progressions can be included in game warm-ups.
- Practicing the Ellis Method On Ice Progressions on a regular basis will allow any player no matter their age or skill level to dramatically increase their POWER & SPEED.
It's Simple to Learn
and
Simple to Teach
Each of the Progressions in the book are broken down into 5 segments:
- The Objective- What you want to achieve practicing this movement
- The Method - Step by step on how to make the movement
- The Technical Points – Keys to ensure the movements will be the most effective
- The Feelings Associated with the Movement – Feelings you should have when doing the movements.
Players and coaches, who have experienced the Ellis Method, at clinics and camps that Sue now conducts, have described the Ellis Method as:
- "Simply amazing!"
- "I learned more in 1 day than I ever learned before."
- "Why didn't they teach how to skate like this in the first place!"
- "If you don't have it, you are at a major disadvantage."
- "The Ellis Method will revolutionize how skating is taught across the world."
- "This book is a must have for any player or coach!"
The Ellis Method for the Straight-Away Stride describes in detail:
The Ellis Method Principles: The principles of movement are the foundation of the ELLIS METHOD. The book provides detailed information on how the principles apply to skating. Understanding these principles will allow both player and coach to clearly understand how to develop the strongest and most powerful technique.
Ellis Method Progressions: The ELLIS METHOD is a series of simple natural movements that create the most powerful technique. This section allows you to have a complete understanding of the purpose and application of progressions in the development of technique.
Ellis Method Off Ice Progressions: 24 Off Ice Progressions for the Straight-Away Stride that will teach and condition the mind and muscles through both isolated movements and kinesthetic imagery. When these movements and the associated feelings are repeated on a regular basis, maximization of results on the ice will be achieved.
Ellis Method On Ice Progressions: 30 On Ice Progressions for the Straight-Away Stride that will teach and condition the mind and muscles through both isolated movements and kinesthetic imagery. When these movements and the associated feelings are repeated on a regular basis, maximization of results during both training and games will be achieved
